Abstract

609,584. Sandals and like footwear_ DOBBS, W. G. March 18, 1946, No. 8307. [Class 17(ii)] The upper material 3 of a sandal or other article of footwear extends down and is secured between an insole and a wedge heel unit 2a, 2b, and an upstanding peripheral flange 1b moulded on a sole 1 and within which, such unit is inserted. The upper surface of the wedge heel 2b rises above the top of the flange 1b, and its peripheral surface is preferably covered by sheet material Y. The top of the insole 2a may be level with or below the top of the flange lb. The sole 1 may have an arched waist so that the heel may be partly below the bottom 1a of the sole 1. The upper may be thonged to the sole or secured by headed nails 5 to the unit 2a. 2b.
