Abstract

699,768. Boots &c. TUCCERI, A. May 15, 1951 [Nov. 1, 1950], No. 11309/51. Class 17 (ii). A force-lasted shoe has a midsole 20 with an upstanding peripheral flange 22 formed by a strip turned under the sole and stitched at 32 thereto. The usual upper component comprising an upper 10, sock 34 and platform cover 36 with their marginal edges united is placed within the flange so that their edge faces, which are flush, abut the upper surface of the midsole at its margin just inside the flange and the cover is turned under the sole 20 and secured throughout by adhesive. Fillers 46, 48, may be used and an outsole 14 is attached. The upper may be discontinuous. Modifications of the peripheral flange comprise a strip stuck to the top or side edges of the midsole and covered by a strengthening strip secured to the top and bottom faces of the midsole. In a further modification, the flange 22 is split at the bottom one part being stuck to the side of the midsole and the other to the top peripheral face.
