Abstract
865,066. Shoes; insoles. STUBBE, F. July 22, 1957 [July 26, 1956; Dec. 7, 1956], No. 23174/57. Class 17(2) An insole for shoes having an upper surface conforming to the shape of the foot and attaching means affixed thereto at regions other than that part of the upper surface forming the inside bottom of the shoe is made of polyethylene. As shown an upper 3, Fig. 2, and a leather strip 7 attached to the outer sole 4 are stitched to a lip 6 of the insole 1. In a second embodiment on upper 3, Fig. 3, and an ornamental strip 9 are stitched to a flange 8 of the insole 1. In a third embodiment on upper 3, Fig. 4, and a covering strip 12 are stitched to a flange 10 of the insole 1. In a further embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the insole has a layer of linen on its lower surface to which an upper and a sole are attached by adhesive. Any space between the sole and insole may be filled by a filler or ribs on the lower surface of the insole may be provided. In all the above embodiments the insole may, as well as conforming to the shape of the sole of the foot, have an up-standing rim round the edge to form a bed for the foot. The polyethylene may be given an odour of leather and oppanolmay be added to give increased flexibility.
