Abstract

400,736. Foot-arch supports. TECNIC BOOT CO., Ltd. and TARRY, W. C., Bedford Road, Rushden, Northamptonshire. July 23, 1932, No. 20823. [Class 81 (ii).] In an insole comprising a foundation layer, a cushion layer, and a covering or sock layer having a marginal flap which is turned under the foundation layer to secure said sock layer, for example as described in Specification 324,873, [Class 17 (ii), Boots and shoes, Construction of], the foundation layer carries a stiff arch-supporting member and the other layers are made to extend over the upper side thereof. A leather insole 1, split and channelled to form a lip 1a, has secured thereto a leather, canvas, or other member 2, comprising one or more thicknesses shaped as shown on a last. A layer 5 of felt covers the insole and arch support and a covering layer 6, for example of soft leather, is formed, except at the heel portion, with a marginal flap 7 which is turned under and secured by sticking. A piece of felt or the like 9 is secured to the under side of the member 2. The composite insole may be pressed, blocked, moulded, or otherwise shaped. The foundation layer may be of canvas, provided with a sewing lip comprising a folded strip having a core of string or other material as described in the aforesaid Specification, and carrying a heel portion of leather. The covering layer may have an opening in the forepart exposing the cushion layer, and both layers may be perforated. The arch support may be integral with the foundation layer.
