Connecting uppers to insoles and soles. - Boots provided with a waterproof layer between two insoles are characterized by the .layer being in one piece and extending up outsida the lining of the boot a sufficient distance to form a seamless envelope in which the bottom of the inner portion of the shoe is situated. An insole 1 is placed on a last and a lining 2 is then lasted over the insole, a suitable filler 11 of felt being used, if desired. A sheet 3 of waterproof material is then solutioned on or attached by other adhesive, the sheet being seamless and extending upwards over the lining a short distance. A second insole 4 is then attached by solution or the like. The insole may be channelled, and after its attachment to the upper the shoe may be finished with an outer sole &c. with or without a welt.
