Abstract

269,342. Burton, A., and York, A. C. May 7, 1926. Connecting uppers to insoles and soles; fillers. -Machine sewn or like type of boots and shoes are constructed with a flanged rubber &c. filler d applied after the upper has been lasted over the insole. A flanged edge of the filler is disposed between an insole b and outer sole c so as to be visible externally and make a waterproof joint. The filler is thickened at d<2> to fill up the usual space formed in lasting. The filler may be perforated for ventilation and the holes filled with cork, or the filler may be split. In the latter case, the filler is adapted to fit slightly varying shapes of sole.
