Abstract
1,154,145. Boots, &c. GUSTAV HOFFMANN G.m.b.H. 17 June, 1966 [7 July, 1965], No. 27247/66. Heading A3B. A method of making a flexible shoe especially suitable for children comprises the steps of securing an insole made of thin flexible material 10, e.g. lining leather, upper leather or textile fabric, to the bottom of a last 1 within a rim 8 projecting from the bottom of the sole then cementing the upper to the insole and securing an outer sole to the upper and insole. The rim may extend over the shank portion only. If it extends beyond this the portion of the rim in the region of the ball is dovetail shaped and the inner edge of the portion of the rim around the toe is sloped to facilitate removal of the shoe from the last. The outer sole may be secured by cementing, vulcanizing or be moulded on the upper and the insole. The insole may be made of lining leather, upper leather or textile fabric and has reinforcing portions 11, 12 at the toe and heel areas made of leather, cardboard or plastics material.
