Abstract

644,712. Foot-arch supports. DEHN, S. G. (Vel Va-Sole Corporation). April 16, 1948, No. 10643. [Class 17(ii)] A foot-arch support 10 for building into footwear comprises a pad or core of resilient material, such as sponge rubber, of the shape shown with a flat underface and a metatarsal support 12 at its forward end for the heads of the second, third and fourth metatarsals, joined by a relatively narrow strip 14 to an inwardly extending projecting portion 15 which serves as a cuboid support. On the opposite end of the support 10 on the inner side of the foot is provided a semi-circular domed portion 17 thickest on the outside and this is connected to the strip 14 by a U-shaped heel portion 22 defining a heel-supporting opening 23. Where it may be desired to insert the support into footwear its top and bottom surfaces are covered.
