Abstract

591,740. Heels for footwear. THOMAS, A. P. L. May 14, 1945, No. 11996. [Class 17 (ii)] A resilient heel and arch support comprises a U or V-shaped member laid on its side with the bend under the arch portion of the shoe, the upper limb extending under the insole rearwardly towards the heel end and the lower limb adjacent to the ground. The space between the inner and outersoles may be filled with rubber before the resilient support is applied. A covering conceals the support. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement of the support 3 in a shoe between inner and outer soles 1, 2 and. Fig. 3 a corresponding view of the shoe when finished. A number of modifications of heel shapes in some of which the support has portions which contact one another under load and prevent overloading of the support is described. Specification 569,169 is referred to.
