Abstract
558,340. Boots &c. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Oct. 14, 1942, No. 14371. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 17 (ii)] A shoe constructed to conduct and discharge to the ground static electricity as it is generated in the body of the wearer comprises a leather insole 11 having openings through the heel and ball in which are inserted plugs 12, 13 of electro-conductive rubber compound, these plugs being connected by a strip 14 of the same material, and covered by smaller and similar plugs 18, 19 which extend through the midsole and are in direct contact with a sole 20 of the same material, the various parts being vulcanized together. In another construction, the plugs extend through both the insole and outersole, which may be of leather, while in another construction, the plugs are integral with an outer sole of electro-conductive rubber compound.
