Abstract
558,628. Boots &c. O'DONNELL SHOE CO. July 8, 1942, No. 9510. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1941. [Class 17 (ii)] A conductive overshoe or sandal comprises a sole 10 toe strap 18, optionally having an elastic portion 24, heel piece 30, and fastening strap 36, the parts 10, 30, 36, and optionally parts 22 of the toe strap, being formed of relatively soft resilient material offering a relatively high resistance to the passage of electrical charges so that these are passed slowly to the ground. The material may be rubber having incorporated in it a quantity of carbon particles, or leather impregnated with a halogen salt solution. In another construction, the overshoe comprises a one-piece moulded "half-rubber" with a conductive tab serving as a pulling-on piece and adapted, in wear, to be inserted in the rear portion of the heel. In a further construction, the overshoe is provided with a sunk heel, and the heel piece is fastened by a snap fastening.
