Abstract
1,017,909. Boots &c. S. A. PENCE. March 6, 1964, No. 9672/64. Heading A3B. A washable and electrically conductive overshoe which will ground the wearer, for use by surgeons and the like, consists of a fabric upper and a sole 12 of electrically conducting material which has an extension 13 which passes up the inside of the upper so that it can be tucked into the ordinary shoe 20 in contact with the wearers foot as shown in Fig. 2. A suitable material for the sole is a rubber coated fabric impregnated with carbon. In a first embodiment (Fig. 2) the sole 12 has a fabric lining 25 and the upper 11 comprises two side pieces 21, 22 stitched together at the heel 23 and attached to a tongue 14. The upper 11 may be attached to the sole by stitching which is reinforced by tape or may be attached as in a turnshoe. In a second embodiment (Fig. 8 not shown) the upper is made from a single piece of fabric 55 which is overlapped at the toe end 63.
