Abstract

1,211,840. Boots &c. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. 11 June, 1969 [24 June, 1968], No. 29681/69. Heading A3B. A bootee for a hard cast 9 consists of a tubular body portion 1 of stretchable material and a sole piece 4 secured to the forward lower end portion of the body 1 leaving the rear part of the lower end of the body 1 open at 8 e.g. to allow the heel spike or plug 11 of a walking cast 9 to project through the opening 8. The body is preferably knitted from suitable stretch fibres and has doubled over portions 2, 3 at its top and bottom. In a first embodiment (Fig. 4) the bottom end of the body 1 is partially joined by a seam 5 and overlies the sole 4 to which it is attached by cement and stitching 6. In a modification (not shown) only the edge of the body 1 overlies and is secured to the margin of the sole 4. The bootee may also include a partial insole of cushioning and/or heat insulating material.
