Abstract

1,149,777. Boots &c. E. BRUTTING. 12 Oct., 1966 [22 Oct., 1965; 28 April, 1966], No. 45666/66. Heading A3B. A sports shoe, e.g. a running or track shoe, has an outer sole consisting of a stiff forepart portion 1, e.g. of nylon, and a flexible portion 5, e.g. of crepe rubber, which is glued or welded to the forepart portion 1, the edge of the flexible portion 5 being inserted in a recess 4 in the portion 1 so that the edge is fully covered by the stiff sole part 1. The sole may have a flexible portion 12 at the toe end, the edge of the portion 12 being inserted in a recess 13. The flexible portion 5 may have rearward extensions (not shown) which cover the back and sides of the heel region of the upper 8 and forward extensions 5<SP>1</SP> which cover part of the sides of the upper. The forward extensions have parts 511 which are glued to the upper face of the rigid sole part 1. The shoe also includes spikes 2 secured to the rigid sole part 1, a partial insole 3 and a heel cushion 10.
