Abstract
517 532. Boots and shoes. SMITH [nee IMRIE], I. C. W. P. July 25, 1938, No. 21997. [Class 17 (ii)] A pad of resilient material such as sponge rubber, thicker than the heel lift, is inserted in an aperture in a heel lift between the inner and outer soles of a shoe. The upper surface of the pad e may be convex and the upper face of the heel lift c adjacent the aperture d may be bevelled or rounded to permit the pad to spread under load in wear. The forward edge of the heel lift c may be bevelled and the outer sole g may be secured by adhesive to the heel lift c and pad e, which may be secured by similar means to the insole b and the overlasted margin of the upper, or to a filler, if such is employed. A strip i of sponge rubber integral with the pad e may extend to the outside through a passage h cut in the heel lift c to ventilate the pad. The shoe is intended especially for children's wear.
