Class 17(2) A Mackay lasted shoe is provided with a toe piece 7 of e.g. chrome leather which is stuck on to the lasted edge 3 of the upper 1 and the insole, 4, and additionally sewn on by the stitching 8, before the vulcanisation of the outer or intermediate sole 6, holes 9 being provided in the edge of the toe piece 7 so as to anchor the vulcanised sole.
