889,219. Shoes. RIEKER, K., RIEKER, K. and RIEKER, R., [trading as RIEKER & CO.]. Nov. 11, 1959 [Jan. 16, 1959], No. 38316/59. Class 17(2) A shoe with a vulcanized on rubber outer or intermediate sole 9 having its toe portion Goodyear lasted and the remainder Mackay lasted is made by providing an insole 3 at its toe part with an insert lip which is sewn or stuck on and to which in known manner, an upper 1 and a welt 7 are sewn, while rearwardly from this the upper 1 is clamped, tacked or cemented to the undersurface of the insole 3, the outer or intermediate sole 9 then being vulcanized on. The insert lip consists of a down turned folded fabric strip 4 in which is placed a reinforcing strip 5 of paste-board, artificial leather or the like. The edge 6 of the upper 1 is sewn on along with the welt 7 to the strip 4. The welt 7, preferably of chrome leather, and also the insole 3 may be provided with perforations 10 for anchoring the vulcanized sole.
