Abstract
592,589. Methods of making boots &c. QUANTICK, C. T. July 27, 1944, No. 14348. [Class 17 (ii)] An inturned flange on the upper a of a boot, shoe or slipper is provided with spaced holes c or groups of holes and is fitted into a peripheral groove e d<2> formed in the side face or edge of the insole; and is secured there by pegs e cemented in position and passing through the holes c into cavities f<1> in the outsole. The pegs e may be of any desired crosssectional shape and may be separately formed or moulded integrally with the insole d. Moulded stiffeners g at the toe and heel are also adapted to be secured in a like manner. The groove d<2> in the insole d may be formed by cementing together two sheets of material, one having a greater superficial area than the other. The inner and outer soles may be of the same material, e.g., rubber or of different materials.
