[Class 23] [Also in Group XXIX] In a separator bowl provided with peripheral discharge openings 19 for washing liquid, a valve member for controlling the openings comprises an expansible ring of resilient material 28<SP>1</SP> and a longitudinally extensible metallic resilient element 29<SP>1</SP> co-extensive and associated with the ring. The resilient element may be a helical spring, and the cross-section of the ring may be circular or tubular.
