[Class 19] A domestic washing or scouring device comprises a handle, which may be made, for example, of a synthetic resin, terminating at one end in a collar or other gripping device that engages a washing or scouring member of spongy material in such manner that the washing or scouring member is compressed in order to form two integral half-members. The scouring member is in the form of a cylinder before compression and is engaged by the gripping member in such a manner that after compression it is in the form of two truncated cones. The spongy material used is preferably natural sponge, cellulose, polyvinyl derivations or natural or artificial rubber. In the figures a is a handle made of plastic material to one end of which a metal rod b is secured The other end of the metal rod b terminates in an integral metal collar c. A washing member of spongy material, in cylindrical shape, is partly forced through the collar so that it is centrally constricted. and forms two truncated conical portions d.
