Abstract

A graft polymer is produced by subjecting an aqueous dispersion of a synthetic elastomer (defined below), and a monomer containing one carbon-carbon double bond which is copolymerizable therewith, to ionizing radiation having an energy greater than 0,1 mega electron volt until the required proportion of the monomer has combined with the synthetic elastomer. By "synthetic elastomer" is meant a butadiene-styrene, butadiene-acrylonitrile or butadiene-methylisopropenylketone copolymer or polypropylene, a copolymer of ethylene and propylene or polybutadiene. The monomer may be styrene, ethyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate. The Provisional Specification relates also to the production of a graft polymer from a monomer and a natural rubber latex.
