Abstract

675,608. Cathode-ray tubes. CINEMATELEVISION, Ltd., and FREEMAN, G. S. P. Jan. 25, 1951 [Jan. 26, 1950], No. 2081/50. Class 39 (i). A storage tube comprises coaxial " writing " and " reading " electron guns 1, 2 and a target structure between the guns and scanned on opposite sides by the two uniaxial electron beams, the target comprising a thin highresistance layer 3 covered on the side facing the " writing " gun with a thin insulating layer 4 which is in turn covered with a thin conducting layer 5. The high-resistance material may be of " conducting " glass, the insulating layer is of silica or magnesium fluoride and the conducting layer which is permeable to the medium velocity electrons from the writing gun is of aluminium or beryllium. The reading beam is of medium or low velocity according to the secondary emission desired and the reading signal may be derived from the returning electrons. The conducting layer 5 has a potential of 20-50 volts positive or negative with respect to layer 3. Specification 655,291 is referred to.
