674,142. Textile drafting apparatus. HOWARD & BULLOUGH. Ltd.. ARUNDALE, J. B., and HAYTHORNTHWAITE, J. J. April 17, 1950 [Mav 4. 1949], No. 11915/49. Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii) Drafting apparatus of a spinning or other textile machine provided with rollers mounted in bearing' blocks slidably carried on guides has each adjustable bearing block mounted for separate operation by an individual lead-screw, the lead-screws being parallel and capable of operation from the same side of the roller stand. The bearing block for one of the rollers is fixed in relation to the stand. A four-line drawing head has the front block 2 integral with the roller stand 1, the second and fourth blocks 7, 9 slidable on the roller stand 1 and the third block 8 slidable on a guide 11 of an extended base of the second block 7. Lead screws 12, 13, 14 pass through the stationary front block 1 into blocks, 7, 8, 9 respectively and the manually-operated heads of the lead-screws may be shrouded by a removable plate. In another embodiment in which the lead-screws are located side by side, the blocks may be held in position by clamping screws. A fixed pointer may be associated with each leadscrew to co-operate with a graduated collar to indicate the position of adjustment. In a modified form, the ends of the leadscrews may be fitted with worm wheels for rotation by hand-cranks, common to several screws and indicators may be provided alongside the hand-cranks to show the extent of the adjustments made.
