Abstract

673,081. Roof ventilators. TUCKER (TOTTENHAM), Ltd., D., and TUCKER, W. D. May 17, 1950 [May 24, 1949], No. 13814/49. Class 137. An opening or closing mechanism for a roof ventilator, for example of a glasshouse, comprises a lifter arm 19 pivotally connected at its upper end to the movable part 23 of the ventilator by a ball and socket joint and at its lower end to an arm 41 by a bolt 42, the arm 41 being also pivotally connected to a member 43 secured on an operating rod 40, a fixed track 10 in which engages a roller. 16 mounted on an extension at the lower end of the lifter arm 19 to guide the movement of the arm, and a radius arm 27 pivotally connected at its upper end to the mid-point of the lifter arm 19 and at its lower end to a bracket 29 mounted on a fixed part 12 of the ventilator. The operating rod 40 is mounted on rollers 37 and 39 journalled in brackets 36 and 38 secured to roof members 15 and 30 and is operated by a chain 50. A latch arrangement 48 is adapted to engage a fixed pin 52 to prevent accidental opening or closing of the ventilator.
