1,029,103. Door operating appliances. G. A. GUSTAVSSON. Jan. 21, 1965 [Jan. 24, 1964; Sept. 7, 1964], No. 2753/65. Heading E2M. In an overhead door for garages the operating mechanism is wholly connected to the door or door frame and consists of a two-arm lever 6 pivoted at 7 with its larger arm connected to the bottom of the door 3 via a bracket 5 and its shorter arm connected to a spring 8 whose other end is fixed to the door frame 4, a support arm 12 pivoted from the frame 4 on a bracket 13 and which has a roller at its free end that runs in a rail 10 attached to the side of the door 3, and a control arm 16 connected to the end of the shorter arm of lever 6 and having a slot 17 at its other end which co-operates with a pin 18 on the support arm 12. The bottom of the slot 17 is provided with a buffer 19 that is compressed by the pin 18 on the support arm 12 when the door is in the closed position and controls the position of the support arm 12 during the early part of the opening operation. The support arm 12 has a stop plate 14 and buffer 15 at the pivot end to limit its movement in the door opening operation. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the control arm 16 is replaced by a tube 21 sliding within an outer tube 20 containing a spring 22 and is connected at its top end to a pair of links 24, 25.
