Abstract

672,268. Electric telemetering systems. MEASUREMENT, Ltd., and HEWLETT, S. J. Aug. 3, 1950. [Aug. 10, 1949] No. 20788/49. Class 40 (i). In a telemetering system wherein a direct current input I, proportional to the variable concerned, is translated into pulses, of a frequency proportional to the D.C. intensity, for transmission, the input 11 produces a voltage drop E1 across a resistor R which is opposed by a voltage E2 derived from a tachogenerator b driven by a servomotor a. The current I2 produced by the voltage difference E1-E2 deflects a coil C (having no restoring spring) in a permanent magnetic field. The coil C through an induction regulator or a capacitor type voltage divider d as described in Specification 648,036, [Group XXXVI], varies the input to a power amplifier e the output 13 of which is applied to the servomotor a in the form of a watt hour meter, the other winding of which is fed from a separate A.C. source. The motor speed is automatically adjusted to a value proportional to the input D.C. I, and operates an impulsing device f to produce pulses at a frequency proportional to speed.
