806,108. Cut-out arrangements for variable speed generators. C.A.V. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1957 [Nov. 13, 1956], No. 34626/56. Class 38 (4). The electrical equipment of road vehicles wherein a three-phase alternator a supplies a battery b over a system of rectifiers c has combined therewith an electromagnetic cut-out which includes normally open contacts k placed between the rectifiers c and the battery b and an operating winding m connected between an output terminal of the rectifiers c and the star point of the alternator a. If the alternator is delta connected this is an artificial star point. The contacts k are held open by means of springs. Thus the battery b is only connected to the alternator a when the alternator a is running. The equipment is provided with a conventional form of regulator i, g and h, f controlling the alternator field winding e by means of a field resistor d.
