Abstract

1,255,684. Automatic voltage control. KOMBINAT VEB FAHRZEUGELEKTRIK RUHLA. Aug.4, 1969, No.38935/69. Heading G3R. In a vehicle supply system comprising an A. C. generator 1 charging a battery 4 and having its field winding 5 controlled by a conventionallyoperating vibratory-contact voltage regulator 6, the vibrating contact 9 is controlled by a winding having two parts 7 and 8 respectively responsive to the battery voltage and the generator voltage. The part 7 is dimensioned so that even at maximum battery voltage it will not open the contacts 9, 10 corresponding to the fully energized condition of the winding 5. Thus the regulator will only operate with a voltage present on the (aiding) part 8 which produces normal vibratory action of the contact 9 in accordance with generator voltage vibrations. The described arrangement prevents misleading operation of a lamp 15 controlled by a relay 13, 14 responsive to the generator voltage, such operation occurring in known arrangements wherein the regulator has a single winding connected directly to the battery. The part 8 may be connected between other points in the system providing a D. C. supply, or other points providing an A. C. supply in which case further rectifiers are required.
