Abstract
856,908. Automatic voltage control systems; supply systems depending on variable-speed generators. LEECE-NEVILLE CO. May 12, 1959, No. 16276/59. Class 38 (4). In a system in which a 3-phase star-connected alternator supplies a load through a full-wave rectifier, the field is connected, via a vibrating contact regulator between the star point and one side of the rectifier so as to reduce the voltage across the contacts of the regulator. The alternator 11 supplies a load including a battery 35 through a full-wave rectifier 10 and a load relay 41. The alternator field 18 is connected between the star point of the main windings and the negative side of the rectifier 10 by the contacts of voltage and current regulators 39, 40. The coil of the load relay 41 is connected across the other half of the rectifier 10, between the star point and the positive. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the field winding is also connected between star point and the positive side of the rectifier.
