[Also in Group XXXV] In an automatic frequency control system for a motor alternator set (see Group XXXV] the motor is given full field during the heavy starting current period. As shown, D.C. motor 5 has series, shunt, interpole, and speed regulating fields 7 ... 10. In response to heavy starting currents a relay coil 15 connected across the series field closes contacts 16 to short circuit a carbon-pile speed regulator resistance 17, and apply full voltage to the speed control field.
