Abstract
838,108. Control of D.C. motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 31, 1958 [March 29, 1957], No. 10389/57. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] The speed of a D.C. motor, having an armature 1 supplied from terminals 3, is controlled by adjusting the current in a motor field 4 by a series excitation generator 5. A field 7 of the generator is supplied from an amplifier 6 responsive to the difference between a signal in a coil 8 proportional to the field current, and a reference signal in a coil 9 derived from the terminal voltage through an ohmic or voltage dependent resistor 12 selected to compensate for change in motor speed. A third signal in a coil 10 is derived through a resistance 11 from the field voltage and acts in opposition to the signal in coil 8 to compensate for variation in field resistance.
