918,658. Control of D.C. motors. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 18, 1960 [March 18, 1959], No. 9793/60. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A speed regulating system for an electric motor includes a delay member with a time constant corresponding to the mean eddy current time constant of the motor and having one input proportional to the field current of the motor and having an output representative of the actual flux in the motor. As shown, in a controller A a field current reference signal IE* is compared with a signal #IE which represents the actual flux. The output from controller A represents the voltage UE applied to the field circuit and is applied to a controller B having an output IE representing the field current. The signal IE is applied to a delay member D having a time constant Tw equal to the eddy current time constant of the motor being regulated. The output from D represents the actual flux in the motor and is fed back to controller A as the signal IE. An application of the system is described in relation to a " multi-loop " speed control circuit for a D.C. motor having its armature and field currents supplied from separate grid-controlled rectifiers (Fig. 4, not shown).
