Abstract
904,409. Control of D.C. motors. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 24, 1961 [Feb. 8, 1960], No. 4396/60. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] The control circuit for a D.C. motor 1 described in Specification 693,899 is modified in that the control voltage for winding 10 now includes an element derived from a transformer 2 proportional to the rate of change of the voltage on field 4 of generator 3, and potentiometer 17 is now connected across the exciter field 6 instead of the generator field 4. Hence, the control voltage, which reduces the forcing of generator 3 and therefore the acceleration of motor 1, now comprises the sum of voltages proportional to the load current of the motor 1, the voltage on exciter field 6 and the rate of change of voltage on generator field 4, which sum is matched against a reference voltage from a potentiometer 12. It is stated that greater stability of the system results. The amplidyne 7 may be replaced by a magnetic or electronic amplifier and this device may be connected directly with generator field 4, the exciter 5, 6 being omitted.
