Abstract

757,134. Electric analogue calculating systems. SERVOMEX CONTROLS, Ltd. March 15, 1955 [April 30, 1954], No. 12680/54. Class 37. [Also in Group XXXVII] A velodyne arrangement for producing a linear sweep of velocity or a linear sweep of voltage comprises a split-field motor M mechanically coupled to a generator G. A resistor R, a capacitor C, and the generator armature are connected between the positive and negative terminals of a source E of high-tension potential. The junction-point of the resistor and capacitor is connected to an input terminal of a highgain amplifier A, the other input terminal of which is connected to the negative terminal of the source. The motor split-field windings are supplied from the output circuit of the amplifier. The arrangement is such that the generated voltage across capacitor C is initially zero and rises linearly with time at a rate determined by the values of E, R and C. Furthermore, the instantaneous generator voltage is the integral with respect to time of the input voltage E, so that the number of revolutions measured on a counter is the second integral of the input voltage.
