671,946. Pipe couplings. BRIEDEN, K., and KUHME, E., (trading as MASCHINENFABRIK, K. BRIEDEN & CO., K. G.), and HEIDEMANN, A. April 6, 1950 [May 14, 1949], No. 12905/49. Class 99 (i) A fitting 5 secured to a pipe 4 has a spherical surface engaged by an annular projection 7, which may be discontinuous, of a fitting 2 secured to a pipe 1, and by an annular rib 8 formed on means that couples the pipes together, e.g. a spring-urged hook, wedge latch, bayonet joint or a nut 6 having an extension 11 to prevent excessive relative angular displacement of the pipes, and a packing 10 is held by fluid pressure against the projection and surface. There may be abutting faces 9 of the fitting 2 and the nut. The fitting 2 may be guided on the surface by ribs adjacent the packing. In a modified form of the coupling, the fitting 5 has projections engaging internal spherical surfaces of the fitting 2 and the nut 6.
