671,386. Chain-grate stokers. BENNIS COMBUSTION, Ltd., PAGE, R. B., SMITH, E., JACKSON, F. H., and PEERS, J. April 11, 1950 [April 12, 1949], No. 9834/49. Class 51 (i). In a shell-type boiler in which the furnace chamber includes a framework to support and guide a unit chain grate stoker assembly, the framework incorporates longitudinal air supply ducts to direct air to the rear end of the stoker. As shown in Fig. 2, a furnace chamber 13 has fitted therein side members 21, 23, together with support members 22 which receive rollers 24 on which the chain-grate assembly is supported. The chain grate is divided transversely into three separate air-feeding compartments, a hinged sealing member separating the front and middle compartments. Main air supply ducts 60 communicate by way of branch ducts 61 with ducts 62 which extend longitudinally below the support members 22 and direct air into the rear of the three compartments. The supply ducts 60 communicate directly with the front compartment.
