Abstract

671,152. Pumps. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AKT.-GES. Feb. 21, 1950 [April 2, 1949], No. 4475/50. Class 7(ii) A supercharging or, as shown, scavenging air blower 2 is mounted at one end of a twostroke Diesel Vee-engine in front of or between the cylinder rows and is connected as by a sleeve coupling 20 to the rotor shaft 16 of a cooling air blower 15 similarly positioned at the remote end of the engine and driven off the crankshaft 3 by transmission gearing 4, multiplying gearing 10 between the shaft 16 and the blower rotor 11 being mounted in a blower housing 13 detachably secured to the engine frame 12 at a mounting position 16. The suction branch 17 of the blower 2 is independently, secured to the frame 12 at a mounting, position 18 which provides a sufficiently large aperture in the frame for the insertion of the housing 13. A friction clutch 21 is provided between the gearing 4 and the shaft 16. The cooling blower 1 draws air axially through a filter 8 into a chamber 9 connected to both cylinder rows, and the blower 2 supplies airto a chamber 19 connected to the scavenging channels.
