670,916. Gas-producers. VOGOGAS SOC. ANON. March 28, 1950 [March 29, 1949], No. 7741/50. Class 55 (i). A process for gasifying non-bituminous solid fuels in a generator, comprises burning a gaseous fuel by means of oxygen in a combustion space, mixing the hot gases of combustion with steam and passing the mixture into the gasification zone of the generator, withdrawing part of the gas produced from a part of the generator where the temperature is between 1000‹ and 1400‹ C. and passing the withdrawn gas through a high-pressure steam boiler and then to the combustion space as gaseous fuel, and utilizing the high-pressure steam generated in the boiler for driving a turbine which is used to operate an oxygen-producing plant to supply oxygen for burning the gaseous fuel in the combustion space and the low-pressure steam leaving the turbine as the steam mixed with the hot gases of combustion. Part of the gas withdrawn from the generator may be passed directly to the combustion space. Specification 351,892 is referred to.
