Abstract
670,682. Magnetic clutches. HOWARD, G. J. E. Sept. 28, 1950 [Oct. 17, 1949], No. 26623/49. Class 35. A magnetic coupling comprises a driving element supporting a ring of horse-shoe permanent magnets 3 and a driven element carrying a second ring of horse-shoe permanent magnets 4, the two rings being separated by an air gap in which a sealing member 8 is interposed. To avoid eddy current losses in the sealing member 8 the latter is preferably made of high resistance material.
