670,243. Bituminous fibre-board &c. CHAM. BERLAIN, Ltd., E. A., and CHAMBERLAIN, J. E. June 3, 1949 [June 9, 1948], No. 15594/48. Classes 96 and 140. [Also in Group X] A method of covering a wall, floor or ceiling comprises adhesively attaching to the surface a sheet material composed of felted vegetable fibres having intermingled therewith a substantial proportion of bitumen (e.g. 25 to 35 per cent by weight) such sheet being several interfelted plies of small thickness resulting from its formation on an intermittent boardmaking machine and the adhesive being such (e.g. a solution or dispersion containing bitumen or rubber) that a layer of an elastic substance is eventually left to constitute the bond between the sheet material and the surface to be covered. The sheet material may be subjected to a heat treatment under pressure, after it has been dried, to cause the bitumen content to unite with the fibres more fully. An ornamental layer of a thermoplastic substance or synthetic resin may be applied.
