Abstract

1,153,037. Laminates. STOREY BROS. & CO. Ltd. 15 Nov., 1966 [15 Nov., 1965], No. 48345/65. Heading B5N. A roofing material comprises a laminate of at least one layer of a bitumen impregnated fibrous or porous sheet and at least one layer of a butyl rubber sheet. The fibrous or porous sheet is preferably a felt of waste cloth and/or paper and/or wood fibres, but may consist of asbestos or glass fibres. The impregnated layer may be coated with a barrier material of e.g. acrylic resin and pigments, but other materials such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinylidene chloride, or linseed oil may be used. The fibrous layer is laminated by calendering to the butyl rubber layer which may itself be a laminate of two butyl rubber layers one of which is fire-resistant. The laminate is oven stoved to effect bonding and curing of the butyl rubber.
