Abstract

668,055. Stop valves. FLEXIBOX, Ltd., and PORGES, F. B. Aug. 8, 1950, No. 19678/50. Class 135. In a screw-actuated stop valve, the operating spindle b, Fig. 1, is formed at its inner end with a cylindrical recess having an inturned rim f and axial slots g, Fig. 3, permitting the insertion by springing of a loose closure ball i which coacts with a seat j formed on the inner face of a removable nut member k. A hole h allows the insertion of a tool to remove the ball from the recess. In a modification, which permits a change of valve seat whilst the valve is in service, valve seats are formed on opposite end faces of a hard corrosive-resistant alloy ring p, Fig. 4, held in place between rubber rings by a nut q. Suitable alloys are those known under the Registered Trade Marks "Stellite" and "Flastelloy."
