Spindles. - The spindle a of valves of the type in which the valve member is operated by a rotating but non-reciprocating spindle is formed with a number of shallow annular grooves b or shallow annular projections forming grooves therebetween, into which fit annular projections on an axially divided thrust block c. The thrust block c may be non-circular to prevent rotation and may be formed with a flange c' secured between a shoulder f<1> on the cover f and the top of the body e.
