[Class 135] A self-aligning shut - off valve for a prepayment gas meter has the valve spindle formed with a ball or rounded end f held between a rounded depression d in a backing plate c and a similar depression in a smaller plate h secured to the backing plate by tongues which pass through holes in the plate c. The seating material is secured to the backing plate by a peripheral clamping ring b.
