Abstract

666,185. Card clothing for carding-engine flats &c. HOLT, J. A. June 13, 1950 [June 14, 1949], No. 15737/49. Classes 120(i) and 120 (iii) A carding engine flat &c. is furnished with metallic card clothing formed two series of metal strips A, B of uniform thickness, from which the teeth a, b are cut or stamped in such a way that the teeth extend over about one-half the length of the strip, the strips being assembled so that the teeth a, b are staggered with respect to each other, Fig. 5. The strips are furnished with dovetailed slots a\ b<SP>1</SP>, so that they may be held to the flat by an appropriately formed solid or hollow key E passing through the slots and driven between the ends d of a U-shaped member D thereby expanded and forced into contact with the edges of the slots, the member D being riveted at f to brackets G carried bv the flat-supporting chains. Strips C (not shown), having no teeth may be positioned between each pair of strips A and B. The teeth of one series of strips may be finer than those of the other series.
