Abstract

665,978. Actuation of switches. KING, D. M. Nov. 8, 1950. [Dec. 22, 1949] No. 32834/49. Class 38 (v). [Also in Group XXIII] In switches and other devices mounted in an elevated position and having a rocker arm operated one way by pulling one cord and the other way by pulling another cord, the cords 18, 19 are attached respectively to two members 11, 10 forming part of a handle and slidable relatively to each other but urged into the position shown by a spring 12, relative movement from this position being prevented at will by depressing a catch 15. In the position shown the cord 18 extends up taut to the rocker but the cord 19 is slack. To move the switch into its other position, the catch 15 is pressed in and the handle pulled causing the cord 18 to operate the rocker and the slack in the cord 19 to be taken up. To move the switch back again, the catch 15 is released and the handle moved still further downwards, the cord 19 effecting the return movement of the rocker while the plunger 11 slides up the tube 10 straining the spring 12. On releasing the handle, the spring 12 pulls up the tube 10 and the parts resume their original positions.
