Abstract

665,460. Drying apparatus. SMITH, E. E. June 22, 1948, No. 16745/48. Class 34(ii) Drying apparatus in which the drying gas is supplied from a liquid or solid source, e.g. liquid or solid carbon dioxide, contained in a supply tank 10 from which the gas passes to an expansion chamber 21 has vanes 27 to distribute the gas uniformly and a blower 29 to force the gas into the drying chamber 40. The supply tank has heating. means 11 to assist evaporation and the chamber 21 has a heating coil 23 connected to a thermostat 25 located in the path between chambers 21 and 40. The dry heated gas is conducted through an inlet 47 into contact with the substance to be dried in chamber 40 whence the moisture laden gas is discharged to the atmosphere through outlet 48.
