Abstract
Calcium nitrate obtained by treating natural calcium phosphate with nitric acid is neutralized and dried by adding calcium oxide to a pH value of approximately 4, fusing and concentrating the resulting slurry, and then adding a further quantity of calcium oxide. Concentration may be effected by spraying the slurry into towers through which hot gases circulate. The hot gases may also be used for drying soluble phosphate or mixed fertilizer obtained by treatment of natural phosphate. Molten ammonium nitrate may be added during the second neutralization step. The resultant calcium nitrate is used as a fertilizer after spraying, centrifuging, or flaking. French Specification 937,996 is referred to.ALSO:Calcium nitrate obtained by treating natural calcium phosphate with nitric acid is neutralized and dried, to render it suitable for use as a fertilizer, by adding calcium oxide to a pH value of approximately 4, fusing and concentrating the resulting slurry, and then adding a further quantity of calcium oxide. Concentration may be effected by spraying the slurry into towers through which hot gases circulate. The hot gases may also be used for drying soluble phosphate or mixed fertilizer obtained by treatment of natural phosphate. Molten ammonium nitrate may be added during the second neutralization step. The product may be sprayed, centrifuged, or flaked. French Specification 937,996 is referred to.
