Abstract
A neutral mixed fertilizer is obtained by forming mono-calcium phosphate into a sludge or paste with an ammonium phosphate containing mother liquor produced in the process, the molecular ratio NH3 : PO4 in this liquor being between 2 : 1 and 1 : 1, and introducing so much gaseous ammonia into the sludge &c. at a constant normal or elevated temperature that the ratio NH3 : PO4 in the liquor is kept constant, the precipitated bodies being separated and if necessary dried to form a fertilizer, while the mother liquor is returned to the process after the quantity thereof has been adjusted to the initial amount, if necessary, by evaporation. The product contains di-calcium phosphate and mono- or di-ammonium phosphate. Other fertilizer salts, such as ammonium or potassium salts, may be added to the separated precipitated bodies before or after drying, or may be introduced into the circulating mother liquor with the mono-calcium phosphate. Nitric acid may be added to the sludge or paste before the neutralization with ammonia. The solid mixture of salts obtained may be treated with gaseous ammonia before, during, or after drying.ALSO:A neutral mixed fertilizer is obtained by forming mono-calcium phosphate into a sludge or paste with an ammonium phosphate containing mother liquor produced in the process the molecular ratio NH3 : PO4 in this liquor being between 2 : 1 and 1 : 1, and introducing so much gaseous ammonia into the sludge &c. at a constant normal or elevated temperature that the ratio NH3 : PO4 in the liquor is kept constant, the precipitated bodies being separated and if necessary dried to form a fertilizer while the mother liquor is returned to the process after the quantity thereof has been adjusted to the initial amount, if necessary, by evaporation.
