Abstract

665.235. Ring - spinning machines. BRITISH CELANESE. Ltd. July 20,1949 [July 22, 1948], No. 19120/49. Class 120(ii) A ring-spinning machine has a pair of ring rails 4, 5 having chaser traverse means for raising one rail while lowering the other and builder means for influencing the chaser traverse means so that the field covered by the movement of the rails caused by the chaser means is raised or lowered thereby enabling a bobbin having a yarn package tapering at each end to be formed. The chaser means comprises a cam acting on a lever 13 connected by wires 18 extending round pulleys 19 to a clamp 26. The clamp 26 is mounted on rods 27, 28 to which are secured cables 34, extending over pulleys 35, attached to feet 36 connected to lifter rods 37 of the rails 4, 5. By suitably positioning the cables 34 and pulleys 35, movement of the lever 13 can effect through wires 18 and rods 26, 28 a raising of one rail and a lowering of the other the cam 9 determining the length of stroke of the rails. To enable the yarn package to be tapered at each end, the builder means provided comprises a lever 21 mounting the pulleys 19 and influenced by a cam 24. The movement of the cam 24 is slower than that of cam 9 and gradually alters the position of the lever 21 and the position of the rails.
